Studying the impact function of poetic language through To Huu’s poetry

Abstract

Studying the impact function of poetic language is a new direction contributing to assessing the effectiveness of the poetry’s semantic function from the linguistic perspective. The article presents a direction of studying the impact function of the poetic language in terms of two aspects: message organization and interpersonal relations in the light of modern linguistic theory - Speech Act Theory. The research results show that the impacts are not the same in the groups of speech acts. The expressive and emotive action group impacts the recipients indiẻctly through the poet’s emotions and perception to come to action, but the controlling action group directly impacts the recipients in which the imperative act has the strongest impact with calls, encouragements, and urges people to act.
