Abstract

Abstract: This study investigates the impact of Quizizz, a game-based online assessment platform, on ESP vocabulary learning among IT students at Hai Phong University. Employing a mixed-methods research design, the study combines quantitative data from pre-tests, post-tests, and questionnaires with qualitative data from classroom observations and semi-structured interviews. Two ESP vocabulary topics, namely “Computer Users” and “Computer Applications,” were selected as case studies for pedagogical intervention. The findings indicate that the use of Quizizz significantly enhances students’ vocabulary retention, learning motivation, and classroom engagement. Moreover, students demonstrated more positive attitudes toward ESP learning when interactive and competitive elements were incorporated into instructional practices. The study concludes that Quizizz is an effective pedagogical tool for ESP vocabulary instruction when integrated with clear learning objectives and appropriate instructional design. Practical recommendations are provided for lecturers and educational institutions aiming to improve ESP teaching quality in technology-related disciplines.
