Experiences about weather and farming in proverbs of the Kinh and Thai peoples

Abstract

Proverbs are intellectual products of the human community, reflecting the diversity and richness of human’s awareness in all fields. This is a valuable source of information for  learning the most basic features of language, thereby unveiling the cultural characteristics of people in productive work. This paper explores proverbs about weather and farming experience of the Kinh people, juxtaposing them with weather and farming proverbs of the Thai people with an aim to discern the cultural characteristics of the two peoples.
