The Language Use among the Nung Ven People in Viet Nam

Abstract

This article analyzes language usages of Nung Ven people in Viet Nam in formal and informal interactions. Within the formal communication, the article analyzes the communication of the Nung Ven people in contexts such as: meetings and work-related interactions at the commune level. Within the informal communication, the article analyzes the communication of the Nung Ven people in contexts such as: village interactions, family interactions, singing, note-taking, and market trading. The use of language is always flexibly adapted to each specific communication context. On that basis, this paper suggests some recommendations for preserving language for Nung Ven people in Viet Nam.
