Unraveling the origin of the name “Sấu - Giá” village (Hoài Đức, Hà Nội)

Abstract

Interdisciplinary research is a widely applied method in social sciences and humanities reseach as it can yield useful results. In this article, we have used this method to explain the origin of the term "Sấu - Giá". Based on the historical, cultural, geographical and historical - comparative linguistics, this article has identified the origin and meaning of this term, which is Cham origin but has been Vietnamized. The initial meaning of this term was to denote a specific geographical feature of villages.
