Exploring language and cultural characteristics through some village names in Ha Tinh

Abstract

Place names are one of the linguistic elements that clearly reflect the “linguistic picture of the world”. As a product of a region, a separate residential area, each place name becomes the place to “store” the culture of each specific locality. Ha Tinh, a land with a depth of cultural layers, together with Nghe An form a unique cultural region known as Nghe culture or Hong Lam culture. The village is a special cultural feature associated with a typical type of place for wet rice cultivation in Vietnam. Like traditional Vietnamese villages, the village cultural space in Ha Tinh covers many aspects of people's lives here. In this article, we will present the typical features associated with the village cultural space in Ha Tinh.
