Based on collocations and idiomatic data in Chinese containing the word 衣 (y), the article describes the syntagmatic relations of the word 衣 (y) according to the following 2 criteria: occurrence position and word class features. This descriptive result is the basis for explaining the metaphorical meaning of collocations and idioms containing the word 衣 (y).
