The application of Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) in teaching Vietnamese as a Foreign Language (VFL) has become a prominent trend in recent years. However, a clear understanding of this application necessitates an elucidation of the fundamental principles of TBLT. This, in turn, broadens our comprehension of how the methodology facilitates learners' language skill development through practical, interactive tasks situated within authentic communicative contexts. This report aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the integration of TBLT theory and pedagogical practice in the VFL classroom. It also identifies the challenges of implementing TBLT, particularly in designing tasks that are appropriate for the proficiency levels of international students. Finally, the report offers suggestions for both learners and instructors aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of VFL instruction.
